Mac's got six appeal

STAR of Scotland chief sportswriter Iain MacFarlane claimed his sixth SFWA Golf Championship title on October 1 with a stunning performance in East Lothian.

Our veritable Golf Convenor, clearly inspired by Europe’s Ryder Cup romp over the Americans the day before, made six birdies on Gullane No3 to rack up a mightily impressive 41 points.

Agonisingly for Scottish Sun reporter Robert ‘Rocket’ Martin, he finished on the same points total but lost out as Iain, playing off three, scored one point better on the back nine.

Lindsay Herron made the podium with a third-place finish on 36 points while Matthew Lindsay of The Herald took fourth position two points back.

The SFWA would once again like to thank William Hill for their generous sponsorship of what was a fantastic day.
