International bright young thing
ASTON VILLA’S driving force John McGinn has been named the William Hill International Player of the Year by the SFWA.
McGinn enjoyed a tremendous season for the national team scoring seven goals in six Scotland appearances.
The former Hibs and St Mirren star, who scored a hat-trick against San Marino, has become a key man in Steve Clarke’s side.
He suffered a broken ankle in January which was threatening to rule him out of the Nations League play-offs until football was shut down due to the coronavirus.
The 25-year-old came out ahead of Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie of Celtic and Hearts’ striker Stevie Naismith.
