The four runners are named for SFWA Player of the Year

Celtic duo Callum McGregor and Cameron Carter-Vickers are in contention with Rangers’ James Tavernier and Hearts keeper Craig Gordon

Callum McGregor and Cameron Carter-Vickers have been nominated for the Scottish Football Writers’ Player of the Year award along with James Tavernier and Craig Gordon.

The Celtic duo have been pivotal in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge and are on the four-man shortlist for the prestigious award.

But they face competition from Rangers captain Tavernier and veteran Hearts keeper Gordon for the SFWA award.

Steven Davis picked up the prestigious award last season - the first Rangers player to win it since David Weir a decade earlier.

Hearts keeper Gordon has twice won the award before – in 2006 in his first spell at Hearts and then in 2015 with Celtic.

The announcement will be made next week in the daily newspapers with the winner honoured at our Player of the Year dinner on Sunday, May 8 at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.
