Young Player of the Year shortlist

On-loan Celtic full-back Adam Montgomery is in the running for the Scottish Football Writers' young player award.

The St Johnstone left-back is joined by Motherwell wing-back Max Johnston in the shortlist for the DoubleTree by Hilton SFWA Scottish SPFL Young Player of the Year.

Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron and Albion Rovers winger Charlie Reilly are also among the four contenders.

Montgomery, 20, has made 30 appearances for Saints this season while 19-year-old Johnston has made a big impact in Motherwell's improved form since returning from a loan spell with Cove Rangers.

Cameron, 20, scored his 14th goal of the season from midfield in Dundee's cinch Championship title-winning 5-3 victory over Queen's Park.

Reilly has netted 24 goals for Rovers, who finished bottom of League 2 and are tied with Spartans after the first leg of the Pyramid play-off.

Only players who were born after the year 2000 and are qualified to play for Scotland are eligible for the award.

The winner will be announced alongside an interview in Sunday newspapers ahead of the annual awards night on May 28.
