SFWA Committee Update

Dear member,

I'd like to update you on a few SFWA matters.

First of all, I'm delighted to say Ewing Grahame has rejoined the committee. Ewing - a long-time member of the association - previously served as Treasurer and his experience will be invaluable.  His return to the committee was rubber-stamped at our last meeting.

We're charging on with plans for the 2024 SFWA Player of the Year dinner on Sunday 19 May at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Glasgow. We have already secured some fantastic speakers for what we hope will be another brilliant night.

Despite rising costs, the committee has decided to freeze the price of a ticket at just £25 which we believe is terrific value.

However, in the current climate, we hope members understand that this is something we may have to look at again for the 2025 dinner.

To keep our flagship event going - now more than ever - it's really important that we keep numbers high and I would urge all members to try and attend on May 19.

Whether that's hosting your own table for your football contacts and guests - or coming individually - it's important we get as many people there as possible.

As ever, the awards presented on the night will be as follows:

SFWA Player of the Year

Manager of the Year, sponsored by William Hill

Young Scottish Player of the Year, sponsored by DoubleTree by Hilton

Men's International Player of the Year, sponsored by William Hill

Women's International Player of the Year

Media Relations, sponsored by Nutmeg

Lifetime Achievement, sponsored by William Hill

The committee has decided to hold an early vote for the Men's International Player of the Year award ahead of the Scotland games this month.

A shortlist will be sent out soon for you to vote on your winner and remember, this takes into account matches played from June 2023.
