KDM Group SWPL Young Player of the Year

Lisa Forrest has won the KDM Group SWPL Young Player of the Year award for the first time.

The Glasgow City star held off competition from three Rangers players - Laura Berry, Mia McAulay and Jodi McLeary - in a vote of SFWA members.

The highlight of Forrest’s campaign came at Fir Park as she scored twice in 90 seconds to fire City to the Sky Sports Cup.

Forrest will join the SFWA winners at our annual dinner on Sunday evening to collect her prize from the KDM Group following their sponsorship of the award this term.

"I am honoured to have won this,” Forrest said. "I never really pay much attention to individiual awards but it is nice to be recognised for this season.

"I just stay focused on the team. There have been ups and downs this season with some major highs and some lows but I feel like I have learned a lot and that I have really contributed to the team.

"It isn;t easy to goa nd break into any first-team from the academy. It takes a lot of work and support but I feel this season has been a season where I have felt the trust of my team-mates and my manager."
