ABERDEEN have won the Scottish Football Writers’ Association media award.

The prestigious trophy is presented to the club or association that has provided the best support to the industry.

After receiving recommendations from members, the association’s committee felt the Dons should be rewarded for their efforts.

Last year’s winners Celtic, Livingston, Hamilton and Motherwell were also worthy of mentions after a season where covid rules had to be worked around.

Aberdeen head of communications Lisa Sheran – pictured with the club’s media editor Malcolm Panton – said: “It has been a very challenging year on many fronts but from the outset we made a commitment to be transparent and open with our communications.

“We recognise all stakeholders in the game have had to adapt to new ways of working in this past season and as a club we’ve tried to be collaborative in our relations with the media.

“It is very much a team effort here at AFC and this award is credit to a lot of people behind the scenes.”

SFWA President Lindsay Herron added: “Both clubs and the members of the written media have faced unprecedented times this season.

“Some clubs went above and beyond in trying to help our members do their work but we believed Aberdeen were the outstanding and deserved winners of this award.”
