Robert Wins The Duel In The Sun

Robert Grieve won the Duel in The Sun to lift the Ron Scott Trophy for the second time on Wednesday.

Robert edged out Scottish Sun colleague Ben Ramage at Gourock Golf Club with a blazing round of 36 Stableford points in scorching conditions.

A score of 19 - two better than that posted by Ben - on the back nine was enough to secure the title. Robert was presented with the silverware by president Chick Young.

Craig Swan of the Daily Record finished third in the main competition. He also collected the closest to the pin prize for his approach on the 4th hole, while The Herald’s Matthew Lindsay landed the longest drive gong.

The bragging rights at sponsors William Hill went to Andrew Jamieson as he collected the guest prize. His total of 22 points saw him finish ahead of Darren Taylor.

Thanks go to William Hill for their continued support of the event at to all the staff at Gourock Golf Club for their hospitality. An excellent day was enjoyed as the overhead conditions matched a stunning setting.
