DoubleTree by Hilton Young Player of the Year

Barney Stewart is the DoubleTree by Hilton Young Player of the Year for season 2025/26.

The 22-year-old has been recognised for his efforts for both Dunfermline and Falkirk this term after scoring 18 goals in 33 appearances.

Stewart topped the poll of SFWA members ahead of Findlay Curtis, Luke Graham and Andrew Tod and will collect his prize at our annual dinner on Sunday evening.

"It's incredible,” Stewart said. “It's just as meaningful as the PFA vote, just because it's an outside perspective as well as an inside perspective.

“I was scrolling through the previous winners with my dad, there's some big names in there.

“Some massive names that have gone on to have very successful careers, so hopefully I can follow.

“Kieran Tierney got three-in-a-row, Lennon Miller got it last year, Davie Watson who I played with at 21s. Lewis Ferguson, Josh Doig.. all big names.

“A lot have gone to Italy haven't they? No pressure then! I must have been doing something right I suppose!"
